Tips for Selling

Tips for selling your used clothes

When using these apps to sell your old clothes, there are a few extra things you can do to improve your experience as well as the buyer’s experience. These tips can also help increase your earning potential! A lot of the apps have a rating system for the seller so buyers will know what to expect. You want to keep this high so more people will continue to purchase from you! Here are some tips for selling your used clothes with an app:

Presentation is key!

Putting a little extra time in your presentation can increase your earnings and attract more buyers. Try to think from the buyer’s perspective when taking your pictures. Would you want to buy this? While browsing these apps to write this article, I can’t tell you how many pictures I saw of wrinkly clothes lying on a dirty closet floor. Ew, you couldn’t pay me to wear that. So, if you’re trying to sell that shirt that has been bunched up in the back of your closet for the last year, wash it! Iron it! Open your curtains and let some nice, pretty natural light in to really show the colors. You could even get creative and model the clothing. Make it stand out!

Packaging.

When shipping your items, try to package them nicely. No one is going to feel good about their purchase when they receive a balled up shirt in your old Amazon box. At the very least, fold the clothes. If you want excellent seller ratings you could even add a special touch to it! Tissue paper is super cheap, try folding some around the clothes to make them feel new and pretty. You could even add a cute little note for the buyer to thank them for their purchase.

Be honest.

Everyone hates when they receive a product that is different than what they thought it would be. If there is any imperfection in your item, make sure to mention it. The buyer will appreciate knowing about that scuff on the toe of your boots beforehand, rather than it being a surprise.

Be safe!

This tip is for the apps where you sell your old clothes locally. If you have found a local buyer and have chosen to meet up to make the trade, take some precautionary measures. You don’t know who these people are, they might be crazy. Don’t invite them to your house, always meet in a public place during the daytime when there are lots of people around. If you don’t feel comfortable going alone, drag a friend along.
